Leeds fans on Twitter show their love for Barry Douglas on his birthday

New Leeds signing Barry Douglas has barely had a chance to settle into life at Elland Road and he’s already adored by the supporters of the club. After just one season at Wolves, the Scottish defender took his Championship winners medal and relocated to Yorkshire, where he’ll be looking to win another one.

The talented left-back turns 29 today and the fans will be keen to show him how much they mean to him. In his six appearances for the club so far this season he’s already picked up two assists and contributed to three clean sheets. The fans are all of the opinion that the minuscule £3 million fee they paid for him was well worth it and if they gain promotion to the Premier League this season they won’t do what Wolves did and sell him on.

Douglas’ ability to provide assists for teammates from both open play and set-pieces make him a dangerous outlet for Marcelo Bielsa on the left flank and when he’s on the overlap things tend to happen for The Whites. Bielsa’s side are top of the Championship at the moment and one of just two unbeaten sides in the division this season and if they can keep going in this vein form until the end of the season then Barry Douglas and co will be playing Premier League football next season.

The Whites are loving having Douglas at the club and will be keen to see him impress for years to come at Elland Road.
