Leeds fans have been loving life this season, and as they head into 2019 at the top of the Championship, they’ll be looking forward to fighting for promotion and dreaming of a return to the top flight. Yesterday, the fans were given a reminder of playing against a top side when the nine-year anniversary of their 1-0 win at Old Trafford came around.
“What a finish from Beckford!”

Nine years ago, when the Whites rocked up to Old Trafford, the home fans all believed that they’d have a field day embarrassing their famous rivals and kick them whilst they were down. However, it went quite the other way. At the time, Leeds United found themselves battling it out in League One, yet a much changed United team fell to a Jermaine Beckford strike in the 19th minute as Leeds pulled off a famous upset.
There was some big news a few months back that confirmed Leeds United would be facing Manchester United in a pre-season friendly in Australia over the summer, and that will be just the third meeting between the sides this decade, and Leeds have the chance to get another famous win against the old enemy, even if it is just a friendly clash.

Scuffed it superbly. Howson's pass was top drawer.

The Whites will always love looking back to that famous Beckford goal, and will cherish it until they finally have a new winner against United to celebrate.
