Leeds landing Liverpool’s £9m-rated attacker would single-handedly guarantee promotion charge

The Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping their club will make plenty of new additions to the first-team squad this summer to ensure they make a genuine push for promotion next season.

Paul Heckingbottom’s future has dominated the pub talk amongst the resident Whites faithful lining up our bar in recent weeks, but the supporters believe their problems go deeper than the management. Ultimately, the players within the Leeds squad are not up to the standard of a promotion push, so the club must invest this summer in order to achieve their ultimate aim.

However, the hierarchy may not even need to dip into their pockets to bring quality talent to Elland Road, as there are plenty of Premier League players who could be open to the possibility of a loan move next season.

One player who fits that description is Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke (valued at £9 million by Transfermarkt) – a player who will be keeping his options open after struggling for first-team opportunities under Jurgen Klopp.

With Roberto Firmino playing so well at the spearhead of Liverpool’s attack, it seems unlikely that Solanke will break into the first-team anytime soon, so a temporary loan deal could be in the best interests of all parties concerned.

The 20-year-old centre-forward managed to score just 1 Premier League goal from 581 minutes of first-team action last season, but the potential he showcased whilst coming through the ranks at Chelsea and at international youth level suggests he is a huge talent simply waiting to be unearthed.

With a poachers instinct, the willingness to run in behind and a strong physical presence to offer, Leeds would be foolish not to submit an enquiry regarding his availability this summer, as his impact could push them towards the promotion places next season.

The presence of a clinical striker can so often prove to be the difference between a genuine push for promotion and a mid-table finish in the Championship and, considering Solanke will be desperate for opportunities next season, there’s no reason why a deal shouldn’t be possible.
