The Leeds United fans who are gathered at the bar in The Transfer Tavern this evening, are discussing reports that the club are close to completing a deal to bring a midfielder to the club.
According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Championship side are close to securing the signing of midfielder Liam Bridcutt from Sunderland.
Bridcutt spent the second half of last season and it appears that he has done enough to urge the club to make his stay at Elland Road a permanent one.
Sunderland are willing to let the player leave for nothing and are willing to terminate his £26,000 a week contract at the Stadium Of Light which has a year still left to run.
Bridcutt himself is eager to leave the North East side after becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of first team football on offer at the Premier League side.
The midfielder made 24 appearances for the Yorkshire club during his loan spell last season last season, and any permanent move is subject to a financial agreement being agreed between Bridcutt and Sunderland, with regards to the termination of his deal with the Premier League side.
Our resident Leeds fans here in the Tavern would love to see Bridcutt back at Elland Road, and think him and Diagouraga will be a fantastic combination in the centre of the park!
