The Leeds fans in the Transfer Tavern have been urging the club to sack Paul Heckingbottom and bring in the experienced Italian gaffer, Claudio Ranieri. The former Leicester City, Juventus and Chelsea boss left his role at Nantes at the end of the Ligue 1 season, and he’s been touted by Twitter usuers as the next manager to be walking through the door at Elland Road in the next few days.
Leeds United failed to impress this season. The club managed to find themselves at the top of the Championship for a fortnight in September and were even holding onto a play-off place at the turn of the year. However, an abysmal second half of the season that saw just four wins in all competitions had the Yorkshire club drop from 6th to 13th as they eventually finished a whopping 15 points off of the top six.
Next season, if Ranieri does take over at the club, the fans will be hoping for much better than a 13th place finish. The fans would expect a man with the CV of Ranieri to complete similar successes to what Rafa Benitez achieved in the Championship with Newcastle back in the 2016/17 season. The club needs to break out of the Championship soon, with the current 14-year spell outside of England’s top-flight the longest in their history.

Rumour has it that Ranieri is, and always has been, a fan of Luke Murphy #lufc

Whilst he’s the high profile coach we need at #LUFC, I’m not sure Claudio Ranieri would want to take the back seat on player recruitment at the club.

I have haha but a bit of action before end of week wouldn’t go a miss would it?!
If PH is going then get him gone and get talking to Ranieri, there’s no need to keep putting things off or back!
