The Leeds United fans in the Transfer Tavern are getting agitated by their recent form. Leeds have not won since Boxing Day and have lost their last two matches in the Championship, which has started to derail their promotion bid. Thomas Christiansen’s side now sit 10th but are still just three points away from the play-off zone.
Leeds could do with another striker in their ranks. Their top scorer is Kemar Roofe who can play as a striker or an attacking midfielder and then Pierre-Michel Lasogga has seven goals this season as a striker. But their back-up striker option is Jay-Roy Grot and he just simply is not ready for first team football in the Championship.
Leeds should loan Grot out and bring in a new player. Bournemouth striker Benik Afobe would be an ideal addition. With Callum Wilson and Jermain Defoe preferred as Eddie Howe’s top two strikers and then Lys Mousset also able to play there, Afobe could be available for a transfer – either on loan or permanently.
The former Arsenal academy product has already proven his goal scoring credentials in the Championship during his previous spell with Wolves but he has failed to replicate that form in the top flight. A move back to Championship would help him further his career and Leeds would be a good destination as it would give him an opportunity to compete for promotion back to the Premier League.
The 24-year-old is quick, strong and knows where the net is. He is also still young and Leeds could benefit from having him as he enters the prime of his career.
