Former Aston Villa and Manchester United ‘keeper Mark Bosnich has discussed Leeds United’s start to the season, whilst also claiming Patrick Bamford should be handed a chance with England.
Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa has been quite the mastermind since he arrived at Elland Road, helping the Yorkshire club to a successful promotion from the Championship to the Premier League this summer.
Ending a 16-year absence away from England’s top flight, Leeds have started the season in superb form, losing narrowly to Liverpool and holding Manchester City to a 1-1 draw.
A 3-0 win over Aston Villa last week has now prepared Bielsa’s side for next Monday’s mouth watering tie against Leicester City.
What has Bosnich said about Leeds and Bamford?
Bosnich, who was speaking to Sky Sports, has praised Leeds for their style of play before going on to add that all football fans are enjoying watching Bielsa’s side play.
“Now, in a lot of cases, especially over here in Australia, Leeds are everybody’s second side.
“Once again [against Aston Villa], they were fantastic and credit should go to the manager.”
Further discussing Leeds, Bosnich singled out Bamford, who scored a superb hat-trick against Aston Villa last Friday, claiming Gareth Southgate should hand the striker a chance in the England national side.
“Patrick Bamford is playing as well as anyone in his position, and in terms of England as well.
“I remember Gareth Southgate saying he would pick players on form, I think that is somebody he really has to take a look at.”
Should Bamford play for England?
Bamford, who netted his sixth Premier League goal of the season in as many games, has to be handed a chance by England in the next international break.
The former Middlesbrough and Chelsea man has represented England at under-18, under-19, under-20 and under-21 level in the past, so a chance with the senior side has been a long time coming.
If Southgate is truly going by form, then Bamford is one of the most in-form strikers around football at the minute.
