Leeds United were linked with a move for Championship midfielder Michael Olise this summer, and the latest news provides a very good update for a potential future move.
The latest news surrounding Michael Olise
According to Football Insider, Leeds transfer target Olise has an £8million release clause in his Reading contract.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side were keen on midfielder Michael Cuisance in the summer. However, the deal collapsed and this is clearly a position they will look to strengthen in the near future.
Should Leeds make a move for the Championship star?
One of Olise’s teammates Sam Baldock discussed the player earlier this year, as he said: “Michael is a real talent, he’ll get on the ball in any situation. He’s fearless, if you ask him today I’ll guarantee that he had no nerves.”
For someone to chat about an 18 year-old in this way highlights the sheer potential he has and this could be a real coup for Leeds if they decide to back in now the release clause is known.
The attacking midfielder looks to be enjoying his time at Reading this season. In his ten appearances in 2020/21, he has two goals and three assists (WhoScored). He has also managed 1.2 shots, 1.2 key passes, and 1.4 successful dribbles a game.
Such a creative midfielder seems like the ideal replacement for Pablo Hernandez, who has had a great spell at Leeds. The Spaniard has 36 goals and 39 assists for the club, but he is now 35, so he is coming to the end of his career and a versatile forward who can create through passing, crossing or dribbling will be needed to fill the Pablo-shaped void soon enough.
In other Leeds news, Simon Jordan has launched a tirade on the club, days before they face his former side Crystal Palace. Have a read of it here!
