Legend to leave Man United if leading managerial target is appointed

Giggs 4Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern welcoming in the start of a new week with a cheeky pint have expressed their woes to our landlord, following a suggestion that a club legend could leave.

The BBC understand that Ryan Giggs will end his long-term association with Manchester United, should Jose Mourinho be appointed managerial successor to struggling Louis Van Gaal.

Giggs spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford and became Louis Van Gaal’s assistant manager in 2014, following his retirement after 24 years as a star for the Manchester giants.

The Welshman has been touted as a future manager for United, with the original plan being that he would succeed Louis Van Gaal upon the Dutchman’s retirement in 2017.

However, the form of United has changed this plan and the appointment of Pep Guardiola across the City has increased the need for a world-class boss to come in. With no managerial experience, Giggs is not that man.

The leading candidate to become the next manager of United is former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho but if that happens, Giggs will leave the club and will find his first experience of management elsewhere.

Our landlord believes this is the best course of action for Giggs anyway, as he feels the pressure of United as your first job could cripple his managerial prospects in the long-term.

United fans, how would you feel about this? Let us know in the comments below!
