Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern have unanimously agreed with comments made by a club legend, who has urged his former employers to complete a staggering signing this summer.
Metro quotes legendary United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel as urging the Red Devils to go all-out to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, with the veteran Swedish international available on a free transfer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired.
‘I read about Ibrahimovic in the newspapers. I would love for him to come to Manchester United, I’ve said this for a long time. He was born to play for Manchester United.’
‘He’s like an Eric Cantona, who can inspire all the guys in the dressing room but also the supporters. That’s what it’s all about. It’s not about having a Sunday nap at Old Trafford.’
The difficulty for Manchester United may well be the lack of Champions League football next season, with Ibrahimovic likely to want a final crack at the one trophy that’s eluded him throughout his career, but his astronomical wage demands significantly reduce the competition the Red Devils will have for his services.
United fans, should you pay whatever it takes to land Ibrahimovic? Let us know in the comments below!
