Leicester boss states January transfer business is complete

ranieriLeicester fans around the Tavern hardly got started celebrating their incoming players this window before it was over after talkSPORT reported that manager Claudio Ranieri has declared that the club’s January transfer business is already over.

The Foxes boss insists that he does not anticipate any further signings to bolster his squad ahead of their shock Barclays Premier League title challenge.

Leicester fans have already been impressed by winger Demarai Gray, who was signed from Birmingham for £3.75 million and made his debut in the club’s 2-2 FA Cup draw with Tottenham at the weekend.

Leicester return to White Hart Lane on Wednesday in a league fixture and currently sit proudly in second place in the Premier League. But Ranieri said that additional signings are unlikely.

“The transfer market is finished for us. I am only interested in my players and no-one goes away. Business is finished.”

Leicester fans at the bar have invested a lot of faith in their 64-year old manager after seeing them rise to the top of the league and will be hoping that his judgement will be correct as he insisted that one signing for his squad may not make the difference in the title race.

“There is no temptation (to make a big signing to push for the top four). You think with one big player we’ll arrive in the Champions League? Possibly, but you can’t be sure.”

“Step by step we are building to try in the future to fight for the Champions League. Now this is a crazy league and we fight to achieve the maximum. There are three, four or five teams ahead of us. They are building and then slowly we arrive.”

Our Landlord feels that the Foxes may benefit from a couple of additional signings to strengthen their squad.

Leicester fans, are there any other players who you would look to sign this month? Let us know in the comments below!
