Leicester City aim to sign World Cup finalist in January

De JongLeicester City fans around the Tavern have been excited to discover that midfielder Nigel de Jong could be heading to the King Power Stadium in the upcoming transfer window.

Reports suggest that the AC Milan man is ready to return to the Premier League, having struggled to maintain a consistent run of playing time under the Rossoneri boss Sinisa Mihajlovic.

The 31-year-old central midfielder has previously been linked with a mid-season switch to Bundesliga outfits Werder Bremen and Schalke 04, but current Premier League leaders Leicester have also set their sights on the Holland International, Federico Albrizio of calciomercato.com’s Serie A has revealed.

It is believed that Foxes’ boss Claudio Ranieri is looking to sign a strong and experienced replacement for ex-Napoli man Gokhan Inler, who has found it difficult to adapt to life in England and could potentially leave the club in January.

Meanwhile former Manchester City midfielder De Jong, who is currently contracted until 2018, earning around €3 million a year at Milan, has not featured for Milan since their 1-0 away defeat against Genoa in Serie A back in September.
