Leicester City fans in the Transfer Tavern will be disappointed with how the season is ending after a promising mid-season campaign by Claude Puel left them challenging for a place in Europe.
The Frenchman came to the King Power towards the beginning of the campaign, when Craig Shakespeare was sacked, however, it looks as though the former Southampton boss could soon be out of the exit himself.
The Times are claiming that the Foxes are becoming concerned with the team’s performances under Puel, having lost four of their last five matches, and failing to score a goal in the last three. They were beaten heavily by Crystal Palace two weeks ago, before suffering defeat to West Ham United this weekend, making his job even less certain.
According to the report, Leicester have identified David Wagner as the man they would like to take over, having impressed with Huddersfield Town in their first season in the Premier League. The Terriers are not safe from relegation yet, although there is plenty of interest in the German-American.
The 46-year-old has just one year left on his contract to remain at the John Smith’s Stadium, but with Chelsea reportedly having an interest, it could be difficult for them to keep hold of him.
The Leicester fans in the Tavern will be concerned with how the team have been playing as of late, having started brightly under Puel, however, a number of the locals may not consider Wagner to be the successor, should they target him.
