The Leicester City fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing comments made by a club president of an Italian side.
TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting that Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani has confirmed that Claudio Ranieri has made an enquiry about striker Gianluca Lapadula.
Lapadula had been in fine goalscoring form for the Italian Serie B side this season and has managed to net himself 24 goals in 37 appearances for the club.
Claudio Ranieri is going to need a stronger squad for next season’s campaign following the club’s championship win, as they have the extra games in the Champions League to contend with.
Speaking about the enquiry, Sebastiani said: “I received a phone call from Claudio Ranieri some time ago, before Leicester won the Premier League.
“It was a courtesy call where we talked about football and when he confided that he is following with interest our attacker. No official offer in any case, only an interest. I was very happy with his call and I’m happy for his incredible success.”
The Leicester fans in The Tavern would be delighted to land a striker like Lapadula and think he would be an important addition to the squad for next season.
Our landlord admits he doesn’t know too much about Lapadula, but given the success rate of the Foxes unearthing hidden gems, this could be another astute signing!
Foxes fans….. What do you make of this news? Would Lapadula be a good signing? Let us know below!
