Leicester City endured a terrible start to the campaign under former boss Craig Shakespeare, but with Claude Puel at the helm, the Foxes look resurgent.
In the top half of the table an going extremely strong in the league, Leicester will have the likes of Burnley and Arsenal in the sights over the course of the coming months, and will be confident that they can secure a top six finish this season. Fans here in The Transfer Tavern are also excited by their side’s potential, and with summer signing Adrien Silva finally eligible to play having missed the registration deadline by fourteen seconds in the summer, it feels as if their January spending has already kicked off.
Our Foxes bunch here in The Transfer Tavern are keen to see further movement however, and over a game of darts, told our landlord that another central defender would be welcomed in the coming weeks. Leicester have conceded thirty-two in the league thus far, but know that this figure must reduce if they are to challenge Arsenal for sixth.
Our landlord had a think, and couldn’t help but suggest a move for Brighton defender, Shane Duffy. The former Everton trainee was released from Goodison Park before honing his talents in the lower leagues, eventually landing at Brighton. Now a fully-fledged Republic of Ireland international, the 26-year-old has been sensational for an impressive Seagulls back line this season, and has been the south coast side’s best player by a country mile. The step-up to the top flight is not an easy one to make, but Duffy has taken to his new surroundings with consummate ease, and could now be ready to climb to the next level. Brighton won’t want to sell, but if Leicester have the money to fund a deal, they have the perfect long-term partner for Harry Maguire.
