Leicester City fans in the Transfer Tavern can be forgiven for looking past any summer rumours at this moment in time, but whatever happens in the Premier League this season, Leicester will be competing with Europe’s elite next season and the club must not lose focus on the imminent transfer window.
With that said, the Mirror have reported this morning that Claudio Ranieri is monitoring the progress of Southampton deterrent, Victor Wanyama, as a replacement to N’Golo Kante, should the Frenchman leave in the summer.
Kante has drawn admirers from the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Paris Saint German and has not signed a new contract with the Foxes despite their efforts.
Wanyama has one year left on his contract and has so far refused to sign a new five year deal with the club, with Spurs another high profile side interested in securing the 24-year-old’s services.
Both Tottenham and Leicester can promise Wanyama a route back into Champions League football.
Would Wanyama be a decent replacement for Kante? Let us know in the comments below!
