Leicester City have already made big waves this season with the sacking of Craig Shakespeare, and many Foxes fans prefer to live in the memory of their Premier League title win two seasons ago.
Under new manager Claude Puel, many expect Leicester to become an almost ‘steady Eddie’ team in the Premier League, far enough away from a relegation battle but not troubling the top six and emulating their performance of 2015/16.
Our landlord here at the Tavern has been impressed with the Foxes though at times this season and he thinks that they could well push for a European place if they can make a few tweaks to their squad.
One player he thinks it could be worth the club moving on this January and making room for new players as well as freeing up funds is striker Islam Slimani, who it has to be said, has been somewhat of a flop since his big money move to the club from Lisbon.
Slimani has failed to hold down a regular place in the side as Jamie Vardy remains first choice up top, and the Algerian will no doubt be unhappy at sitting on the bench on a weekly basis.
Although he has shown flashes, the Foxes could be wise to move him on while he still holds some value. There’s bound to be interest in him from Europe, and his record in Lisbon was excellent, meaning Leicester should not have a problem in selling him on if they choose to in January.
