Leicester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that Craig Shakespeare can lead their team to more success.
Having entered dreamland in the 2015/16 season, last season proved to be a dull return to reality with regards to the Foxes’ league position.
They failed to maintain their status as a Champions League team and accordingly Leicester are rebuilding for the forthcoming season.
One area of Leicester’s team that requires improvement according to our landlord is their defence.
The Foxes conceded 63 league goals last season, and the need for defensive refinement is evident.
Our landlord thinks that he’s found the man that they’re looking for.
Under Jose Mourinho’s management, Chris Smalling has fallen out-of-favour with the Red Devils, having only made 13 league starts and 18 approaches in total.
His days in the iconic red shirt seem to be numbered; this is Leicester’s prime opportunity to make their move.
The 27-year-old has attained plenty of experience competing in major competitions; he has made 243 appearances for United.
Throughout the duration of his United career, Chris Smalling has won every possible competition apart from the UEFA Champions League.
To sign a player of such stature and impressive talent would be of tremendous benefit to Leicester City.
He’s a terrific passer of the ball and is often dominant in aerial battles, providing his goalkeeper with a solid cover.
At the age of 27, it could be argued that he’s approaching the pinnacle of his abilities.
Our landlord believes firmly that the Foxes should exploit his availability.
