If the Transfer Tavern conducted a poll on which supporters have consumed the most alcohol so far this season then the Leicester City fans would win hands down, following the meteoric rise to the top four of the Premier League.
The main man throughout the current run has been leading scorer Jamie Vardy, who has this week insisted that boss Claudio Ranieri will not rest him throughout the campaign – a move which the striker has backed.
Two Foxes supporting punters are gulping their pints over by the pool table and have been drawn to an article on football website Goal, that has suggested, despite his current minor groin surgery, Ranieri will not be choosing to rest Vardy throughout the season, once he is fit again.
Speaking to Goal, Vardy said: “Never. I will be fine, no worries about that. I won’t be having a rest.
“The illness last week has all gone now. I couldn’t tell you what it was. I was deteriorating by the minute and bed-bound for a couple of days.
The landlord in the Tavern thinks this news could have a detrimental effect on England’s chances at the European Championships in the summer, and fears Vardy could be burnt out if he is not given adequate recuperation time by his club between now and the end of the campaign.
Leicester fans… What do you make to this news? Does Vardy need rest? Do you agree that it will have an effect on England’s chances at the European Championships?
