And it seems like the Foxes are doing their best as according to talkSPORT, Leicester City have bid £6.5 million for Sporting Lisbon’s Algeria international striker Islam Slimani.
The Foxes are keen to further strengthen their side as they prepare for their first season back in the Premier League having been promoted this summer.
And Slimani – who impressed for the Fennec Foxes during the World Cup – is being targeted by boss Nigel Pearson.
The 26-year-old striker only joined the Portuguese outfit last summer and went on to score eight goals for the Jose Alvalade-based club.
It is believed that Premier League rivals West Ham United were also interested in the striker with Hammers boss Sam Allardyce keen to find a player that can fill and Andy Carroll-sized gap after the Hammers’ record signing was ruled out for four months with ankle ligament damage.
However it is the Foxes that have tabled an offer and they will be hoping to secure his signature in the coming weeks.
