Leicester City thwarted in attempts to sign Premier League striker, £25M bid rejected

Troy DeeneyTroy DeeneyTroy DeeneyPremier League champions Leicester City have seen an improved bid of £25 million turned down by Watford for their captain Troy Deeney, according to the Watford Observer.

Foxes boss Claudio Ranieri is hopeful of securing the Watford striker to bolster his side’s squad ahead of their first campaign playing Champions League football next season, although the Hornets are likely to hold out for £30 million.

The Leicester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still on a crest of a wave following their emphatic title winning campaign and are intrigued by this move for Deeney.

The 27-year-old talisman has been a superb performer for Watford over the years and netted 13 Premier League goals last season, during his maiden season in top flight football.

One Leicester fan is sat at the bar chatting to the landlord however and he doesn’t think Deeney has the required quality to improve the Foxes’ attacking arsenal, stating that the club should be targeting a higher calibre of player following the euphoria of last season.

Leicester City fans, do you rate Troy Deeney? Who else should the club be pursuing? Watford fans, what do you make to this news? Can Deeney be replaced should he leave?
