Leicester City manager Claude Puel will be pleased with how his new signings are settling in at the King Power.

James Maddison, in particular, has had a great start to life at the 2015/16 Premier League champions with many believing his performances so far have been good enough to warrant a call up to Gareth Southgate's England squad.

Maddison has often looked dangerous playing behind the No.9, but it appears Puel may have wanted another attacking midfielder on top of the 21-year-old.

The Breakdown

According to L'Equipe (via Leicester Mercury), a host of Premier League managers were in pursuit of Aleksandr Golovin including Puel, who recently praised the Russia World Cup star in an interview with the French outlet.

"He’s a top player," Puel told L'Equipe. "With him, you’ll see what he can do.”

Capable of playing in attack and central midfield, £27m-rated (via Transfermarkt) Golovin is a player who would have brought much to Puel's side and have them playing at a slightly higher level.

The Russia international can play through the lines, take up dangerous positions on the pitch and has the vision to pick out his team-mates.

Golovin is also a threat from dead-ball situations and, overall, would have been a quality addition to Leicester's squad.

The 22-year-old joined AS Monaco in the summer following strong interest from Chelsea (via Goal), and his availability for transfer from CSKA Moscow will come as a missed opportunity for Puel and rest of the Premier League bosses who were chasing his signature.
