Our resident Leicester City fans are enjoying their seasons so far with a pint in the Tavern today and they might have cause to buy another round after The Daily Mail reported that Leicester are set to hand two of their key assistants new deals.
The word amongst our punters, who are eating a burger and chips, is that head of recruitment Steve Walsh and coach Craig Shakespeare will sign contract extensions until 2018.
The pair have been instrumental behind the scenes in what could be a title winning campaign for the Foxes.
Our Leicester City supporters over by the bar have also been delighted to hear that manager Claudio Ranieri took an active role in the negotiations between his pair of assistants and the club.
Walsh, who was behind the signings of success stories Riyad Mahrez, Jamie Vardy and N’Golo Kante, had recently attracted interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Meanwhile, Shakespeare is said to take an active approach in training sessions and he is believed to be a popular figure at the King Power Stadium.
Our landlord believes that keeping the assistant duo could be a better signing than any individual player, especially with Leicester looking forward to Champions League football next term.
