There’s a tough Premier League season ahead for Leicester City as they continue to continue their development under manager Craig Shakespeare.
The Englishman did a good job following Claudio Ranieri’s shock departure last season and the Foxes fans here in the Tavern are predicting a strong campaign ahead, despite the division looking arguably stronger than we’ve ever seen it before.
Leicester have strengthened well this summer, with the signing of former Manchester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho surely one of the better pieces of business we’ve seen in the whole division.
But one star who’s future still remains up in the air is Riyad Mahrez, who, according to Sky Sports News, is still keen to force a move away from the club this summer.
And speaking to the same outlet, he’s branded Italian outfit Roma “a great club”.
“I know Roma came in, but nothing was accepted so there is little I can do. They are a great club who I would like to talk to but I can’t until Leicester accept a deal,” he told Sky Sports News.
“Leicester know my thoughts, but I will continue to give my best for the club as I always have.
“Clearly, it is flattering whenever you get linked with any big clubs, but as it stands, I have not talked to anyone as nobody has had a bid accepted but we nearly have a month left of the transfer window so we will see what happens,” he added.
Of course, much of Leicester’s need to sell will be down to who they can get in to replace Mahrez, if he does leave. He’s a player that’s going to command a decent transfer fee and reinvesting that in another quality wideman is so important.
But they mustn’t sell without considering his replacement.
