Leicester City supporters in the Transfer Tavern are relishing the summer transfer window, as their side seek the additions that can take them forward in the Premier League next season.
Claude Puel’s men finished ninth in the top-flight this time round and will certainly be looking up as opposed to down next term, with European football a genuine possibility for the 2016 league champions. However, it’s clear from their limitations this season that further reinforcements will certainly be needed at the King Power Stadium if the Foxes are indeed to sustain a challenge to the top six clubs next term.
And recent reports linking Jamie Vardy with a move to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are hardly going to delight our resident Leicester fans, who believe that their team simply must forget about selling the England international, as Ahmed Musa is the only striker they should get rid of this summer.
Ultimately, the 25-year-old has endured a miserable spell at the Midlands club since his arrival back in the summer of 2016, with the Nigeria international bagging just five goals in 33 senior appearances for the Foxes.
In fact, the forward is so far down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium that he was shipped out on loan to former employers CSKA Moscow back in January for the remainder of the season, having failed to appear at all in the Premier League for Leicester in the first half of the season.
And with Vardy enjoying a fine season, summer signing Kelechi Iheanacho improving as the campaign wore on, and the likes of Shinji Okazaki and January addition Fousseni Diabete performing solidly, there is very little chance that Musa will return to the club this summer and command regular football.
And with the Foxes likely eyeing a European assault next term, they simply need to bring in quality additions over the summer, at the same time getting rid of deadwood from the squad – Musa falls into the latter category.
As such, not only is selling Vardy something they simply cannot entertain this summer, given he netted 23 goals in 42 appearances last time round, there is one striker who should be on his way out of the club instead during the close season, namely under-performing Musa.
