Brendan Rodgers could be set to pip his former club to the signature of a ‘wonderkid’ in Bruno Davidson, according to reports.
The Football Insider have revealed that Leicester City join Celtic in the race for the 15-year-old player, after making a big impression for Edinburgh boys’ side Hutchinson Vale.
The report states the Bhoys and Sunderland have already made an offer for the forward, who allegedly had a trial at Liverpool, as well as play for Leicester’s U16s at the weekend, bagging once in their 3-1 win over West Ham.
According to the original report – in which they dub Davidson as a ‘wonderkid’ – the Leicester coaching staff were sold on the young Scot, and they have subsequently joined Sunderland and Celtic by offering him a deal.
The 15-year-old is able to play on either flank or behind the striker, which suggests that the youngster already has a comprehensive skill set at his age to be able to play in so many different positions.
With the calibre of teams interested, it seems like there is a really talented player at stake here, so there is no surprise to see Leicester throw their hats into the ring.
With Davidson being just 15, you’d imagine that it would give Celtic a huge advantage over Leicester due to Glasgow being so much closer to Edinburgh than Leicester is.
Presumably, Davidson would have to move houses to play regularly for the Foxes, which could be seen as an unnecessary step at this stage with Celtic hardly being a bad place to develop. In fact, he may feel as if the chances of reaching the first team are greater at Celtic, considering that Leicester are now battling out at the very top of the Premier League.
