The Leicester fans in the Transfer Tavern are optimistic that given the whole season, Claude Puel could perform wonders for the Foxes having already turned around their fortunes once before.
Leicester’s season has rather died out over the last few weeks, having looked safe for a long time now. Performances of players like Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez have still been exceptional and the Foxes will be hopeful of another top ten finish next season.
Our punters have discussed the team’s weak point and, continuously, people mention the defence. As stable as they are, players such as Wes Morgan and Robert Huth need to be replaced by younger and more energetic defenders, with Leeds centre-back Pontus Jansson being lined up as a possible replacement by our punters.
The 27-year-old is valued at £5.40 million on Transfermarkt, and has continued to be a reliable leader at the back even given Leeds’ incredibly bad form at the moment. 12 clean sheets have been kept in Jansson’s 41 appearances thus far and with Leicester in need of a good centre-back to replace the older bodies in the club, the Swede has enjoyed two successful terms with Leeds and looks more than capable enough to play in the Premier League.
Harry Maguire has proven to be one of the unsung heroes this season for Leicester but to solidify their defence even more, a player will need to arrive this summer to partner the Englishman. Pontus Jansson may not be the most desirable name on the list but after learning his craft in the tough Championship, Leicester would give him the perfect platform to prove his ability in the top flight.
