Leicester found a goal from an unlikely source against Aston Villa on Sunday when Jonny Evans thundered a powerful header past Tom Heaton. It was his first goal of the season so far but pushed the Foxes back to two goals ahead at 3-1. The club’s fans loved the sight of a good, old-fashioned header at the back post.
Evans has been a key component in Brendan Rodgers’ machine so far this term, playing in all 16 of Leicester’s games in the Premier League. Only three outfield players have played more minutes than him this season and he’s second only to Çaglar Söyüncü on the average number of blocks and clearances he makes per game (via WhoScored).
You don’t see the attacking side of his game very often, and that’s proven by his one assist in the league and average of 0.5 key passes per game. However, when he scored the header on Sunday against Villa, fans couldn’t believe how good his attacking instincts were. The club’s official Twitter account posted the news of his goal and plenty of fans replied to show how impressed they were.
