Lots of Leicester City fans have been reacting to Tuesday night’s return of Danny Drinkwater, who played his first Premier League football since March 2018.
The Chelsea midfielder, who is now on loan at Burnley, had not stepped foot on a Premier League pitch since a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City during the 2017/18 season.
He left the King Power stadium in the summer of 2017 in a deal worth £35m, which now looks an absolute steal for the Foxes considering how disastrous his time at Stamford Bridge has been.
The 29 year-old was of course a popular figure at Leicester, joining the club back in 2012 and playing a crucial part in the Premier League winning season.
Plenty of fans have been weighing in on his decline after he played 59 minutes in Burnley’s 4-1 defeat to Manchester City, and while a couple are seemingly still not happy about his exit, most appear happy to see him back on the pitch.
Take a look at some of the best Twitter reactions down below…
I’ve long moved on from any bitterness towards Drinkwater for leaving us, he’s paid the price. I hope he does well and gets his career back!

If Burnley can get his mentality back on it then they’ve got a top midfielder in Drinkwater, good range of passing, decent engine and loves a tackle

Former Foxes Drinkwater, Mee, and Wood. That takes me back to the Championship.
Might take Burnley there, too.#BBCFootball

People talk about Danny Drinkwater as if he was a one season wonder. Au contraire: he was outstanding in our Championship winning season, integral in our Premier League win, but arguably 16/17 was his best. He was fantastic in our Champions League games. Good luck to him. #LCFC
