Spanish giants Real Madrid are considering making a transfer offer to lure Youri Tielemans away from Leicester City, according to El Nacional.

The Lowdown: No new contract yet

Since his £40m move to Leicester in 2019, the 24-year-old has become a real fan favourite at the King Power Stadium, mainly due to his smiling pictures and thunderous strike against Chelsea to win the club their first-ever FA Cup in May.

Tielemans, who has been labelled a 'fantastic player' by Foxes legend Emile Heskey, has made 118 appearances for the Foxes, scoring 18 goals and setting up a further 21, and he has formed a remarkable midfield dynamic with Wilfred Ndidi and James Maddison.

However, with contract talks stalling and the Belgium international stating that he wants to 'keep open all the options' about his future, his time at Leicester remains unclear and doubtful if Champions League football isn't secured.

The Latest: Real Madrid targeting him

According to El Nacional, Tielemans would be brought in to replace Casemiro at Real Madrid, with the defensive midfield having to leave the Bernabeu after nine years at the club.

The report stated that the 24-year-old "is on the radar" of several elite European clubs, including Real Madrid, whose management are "very interested" in his services.

The Brazilian midfielder only renewed his contract with Los Blancos a few months ago, but Carlo Ancelotti's admiration of the Belgian could see him move to Spain and be part of the 62-year-old's plans.

Tielemans would join his international teammates Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois in Madrid if he swaps Leicester for the Bernabeu.

The Verdict: Champions League football required

It wouldn't have been surprising if Tielemans said his goodbyes last summer after Leicester missed out on a top-four place on the final day of the season after losing 4-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

His FA Cup final goal has put his name in the club's history books, but his quality and performances for Leicester warrant a move to an elite club and give him a chance to perform in the Champions League.

Right now, his focus must be on helping Brendan Rodgers' side turning their poor form around and ensuring that they are up and around the top four places at the end of the season.
