Leicester City should attempt to challenge the big boys again and move for £27m-rated attacker

Leicester fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping for another good campaign next season when Claude Puel gets the summer to work on his side. Since his arrival midway through the season, the Foxes have looked a much better team and one capable of challenging for Europe.

The Foxes will be hopeful of securing Europa League football this season but next season will really prove whether Claude Puel can take them to the next level or not. His management so far would make Leicester believe they are capable of challenging the top teams in the league, as they have one of the best squads outside the top six.

If Leicester are serious about upping their game, they should really be looking at challenging the top clubs for their transfer targets. The player us punters have in mind is Gelson Martins, a winger valued at £27.00 million on Transfermarkt and a player wanted by the top four teams in England. It’s no surprise that the best clubs reportedly want him either because this season, the Sporting Lisbon man has been on fire, scoring 12 goals and assisting 11 in 41 appearances so far. The prolific winger has a good eye for goal and his pace allows him to create a lot more chances as he eases past defenders.

With rumours of Riyad Mahrez leaving the club continuing to escalate, Gelson Martins would be a top replacement and it could be argued that Leicester would be better with Martins instead of the Algerian. It will not be an easy task to get the Portuguese star but if the Foxes want to take the league and possibly the European competition seriously, Martins is the calibre of player Leicester simply must sign.
