Leicester City should look to replace Wes Morgan with £10.8m-rated England hopeful

Leicester have had a steady campaign having seen Claude Puel come in and amend their low-place finish concerns. The Foxes are starting to form together a good-looking side, capable of potentially challenging for a European space once again.

Despite their recent form not being as strong as when Claude Puel first took over, the Foxes are comfortably in the top-half but even so, Leicester should be looking at the upcoming transfer window as an opportunity to strengthen their side once more.

A player who should be a realistic target for Leicester is English centre-back Alfie Mawson, who is valued at £10.80 million on Transfermarkt. The 24-year-old has arguably been Swansea’s best player this season and has been ever-present at the heart of defence for Carlos Carvalhal’s side. He has played in every single Premier League game so far and consequently earned himself an England call-up for their most recent international friendlies.

With Leicester having a strong English defender of their own already in Harry Maguire, Alfie Mawson could provide the perfect centre-back to line-up next to the ex-Hull man. Wes Morgan and Robert Huth are nearing the end of their careers and their Leicester contracts, so Alfie Mawson really is a player the Foxes should seriously consider acquiring from Swansea.

Landlords verdict:

Alfie Mawson is surely a highly-wanted player these days and has been ever since Swansea suggested a £50m price tag on the 24-year-old last summer. Leicester have to realise their need for a player such as Mawson is tremendous and so should spend whatever money is required to bring him to the King Power Stadium.

Thoughts Leicester fans – Would Alfie Mawson be a good signing?
