Ndidi is a teenager but has already earned himself a decent reputation from his time with current club Genk and amid reports, again from The Leicester Mercury, that he is set to join the club in January, McLeish has lavished praise on him.
Indeed, the former Birmingham City manager knows the player well from his own stint with the Belgian side and believes he could be the replacement for Kante the club have been waiting for.
The Scotsman said:
“He is Kante-like, he will cover the ground like Kante does.
“In terms of technique, you wouldn’t say he is the best passer in the world but he keeps it simple.
“I saw him on tape [at Genk] and at the next recruitment meeting we pushed the button. I immediately saw the speed of the boy.”
Indeed, McLeish signed Ndidi for Genk in 2015 with him quickly becoming one of their key players.
Our Foxes fans here in the Transfer Tavern are certainly hoping he can do the same for their club should he move as they are currently worrying about relegation having won the league last year.
The club just doesn’t have the same unbridled buzz about it at the moment and that is making for some stilted performances whilst they are evidently missing Kante who moved to Chelsea in the summer.
