As quoted by The Mirror, Leicester City defender Danny Simpson has admitted that the club’s Christmas Party could be cancelled at the moment with the Foxes just two points above the relegation zone.
Our Leicester fans here in the Transfer Tavern just do not know what to make of their side this season with them currently the Premier League champions and having seen them qualify at a canter for the Champions League knock-out stages, yet they are in serious trouble in the league.
The goals have dried up for Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez doesn’t look the player he was last season and, in all honesty, they were lucky to get a point at home to Middlesbrough at the weekend.
Islam Slimani saved them from another loss with a late penalty and Simpson believes all festivities will be cancelled if they can’t buck their ideas up.
Simpson said: “I don’t think we will be allowed a Christmas party at this rate.
“A lot of people want to beat the champions, maybe they are giving it a bit more. But when you score in the last seconds like that it could be a big turning point.”
Time will tell if that late equaliser does become a turning point for the team as they look to avoid being the first ever Premier League champions to be relegated the season after lifting the crown.
They are away at Sunderland next which is looking increasingly like a must-win fixture for the reigning champions.
