Our Leicester City fans here in the Transfer Tavern are still in a state of shock today after Claudio Ranieri’s shock sacking last night.
Less than a year after guiding the Foxes to the most incredible of Premier League titles the Italian has been shown the door with the club now precariously close to the relegation zone.
Whoever comes in, then, has a big job on to turn things around and – according to Sky Sports – Roberto Mancini has been the man the club have already looked to ask about the job.
Our landlord thinks it would be an impressive appointment if they could get Mancini in, too, but there has to be reservations about him in a relegation fight given he’s used to challenging at the top of the league.
Indeed, Mancini is a serial trophy winner and of course helped Manchester City to their first Premier League title in dramatic fashion in the 2011/12 season.
Leicester’s owners obviously want him to guide them back to the summit, then, though our landlord thinks a serious reality check is needed at the King Power Stadium with that in mind.
