In this instalment of our TT Roundup, Football Transfer Tavern have gathered three of the biggest stories to have involved Leicester City recently and have provided our thoughts on the reports published.
GOOD NEWS ON CHILWELL
A positive story to start as the Manchester Evening News reports that United have packed in plans to move for the left-back in January.
With Luke Shaw still struggling with injuries, it had been claimed that they were taking a look at the defender.
Even if the Red Devils were serious about signing the England defender, it would have been a task which is easier said than done.
Considering that the Foxes are 12 points clear of them and seven places above, it wouldn’t necessarily make much sense to stop something which is going so well to join a club who are struggling in mid-table.
With a Euros on the horizon, Chilwell could be better off continuing his strong form at the King Power to ensure that he holds down that position in Gareth Southgate’s team.
RODGERS COULD RAID FORMER CLUB
Reports from 90MiN suggest that Brendan Rodgers could be set to raid his former club to sign Norwegian youngster Kristoffer Ajer.
The 21-year-old could be worth as much as £20m according to the report and may make a move as soon as the window opens.
Even though the Rodgers’ side boast the best defence in the division with only eight goals conceded from their 13 games, there could be some issues if one of Jonny Evans or Caglar Soyuncu gets injured.
Wes Morgan will be turning 36 and Leicestershire Live have previously reported that he could leave the club this window if they can sign another player, so there is definitely room for a defender.
Ajer may find it difficult to break into the team with both centre-halves in such stellar form, but as Evans approaches 32, the East Midlands club could be wanting a successor.
SOYUNCU IN NO RUSH TO LEAVE
Cult hero Soyuncu is is no rush to leave the King Power, his agent Mustafa Dogru has revealed.
Following Rodgers’ message about no key players departing, the Turkish defender now looks pretty certain to stay for at least this transfer window thanks to the word of his agent.
“After such performances in the Premier League, it is quite natural for transfer news to appear,” Dogru told Turkish radio station Radyospor.
This is fantastic news for the club considering his role in their impressive defensive record.
Considering this is his first season of playing regularly, he has made a huge impression after just 13 games. He has an average rating of 7.26 from his 13 games and hasn’t missed a minute so far.
The 23-year-old’s qualities have allegedly caught the eye of Manchester City, so keeping a player of that calibre is only going to be good news for the Foxes.
