Leicester’s best possible XI under Claude Puel

Leicester’s best possible XI under Claude Puel

Leicester City will be desperate to work their way up the table as they could find themselves in the race for a European spot if consistency is guaranteed.

The Foxes already have their first three points on the board but there’s still a long way to go in what will be a long, hard season for Leicester City. Indeed, Claude Puel seems to have identified his strongest starting XI, but he still has to deal with suspensions and the fitness of certain players.

So, it’s important that the Frenchman can stick to fielding a settled side, but he may need a lot of luck to do so as injuries can impact his match selection.

Therefore, in an ideal world where Leicester City have a fully fit squad with no injuries or suspensions to speak of, here’s an idea of what Puel’s strongest XI would look like…

LEICESTER CITY’S STRONGEST POSSIBLE XI

We’ve gone with a 4-2-3-1 formation, as that is the formation that the Foxes have thrived from so far this season as their attacking three support the striker well, while the midfield two help protect the defence.

Harry Maguire’s World Cup performances helped establish him as one of the hottest topics in world football, so he’s always going to be guaranteed a starting place in the side. And, it’s only fair that Wes Morgan is inserted in alongside him as he can provide a wealth of experience and defensive solidity. Also, Ben Chilwell and Ricardo Pereira have already shown that they can contribute in both attacking and defensive areas, so they’ll be vital this season.

In midfield, the likes of Wilfred Ndidi and Daniel Amartey provide a mixture of power, strength and finesse on the ball as they work tirelessly to protect the defence and get the ball forward. Meanwhile, Marc Albrighton never fails to deliver quality balls into the box and Demarai Gray’s pace and dribbling ability always causes problems.

Lastly, James Maddison has hit the ground running since making the step up to the Premier League as he scored his first goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers not so long ago. And, leading the line for Leicester City would be Jamie Vardy, who never gives the defenders a moments rest and knows how to find the back of the net.
