Speaking to ITV’s Champions League highlights show, Roy Keane has offered an honest assessment into why Leicester are struggling this season with our resident Foxes fans nodding along in agreement.
Indeed, there’s been a real change in fortune this season for the men from the King Power Stadium who have gone from runaway Premier League champions to relegation candidates in a space of a few months.
And whilst their Champions League form has been something to cheer about with them getting through to the last 16, they were battered 5-0 by Porto yesterday in the last group game.
It was indicative of how poor their season has been so far and the former Manchester United man thinks he knows what is to blame.
The Irishman said of their current plight:
“Over the last few months, we see a few of their players getting rewarded with new contracts. The financial rewards are fantastic, but it can destroy a club. Too much money too soon and they players take their eyes off the ball and they are in big trouble.”
The ex-midfielder is of the opinion that the club have given some of their players too much money and they have slacked off since.
Certainly, here in the Transfer Tavern many think the Foxes just don’t have that same vigour about them as last year and with them just above the bottom three – they need to start fighting and fast.
Our landlord agrees and thinks they really could be in trouble without a win soon.
