The Watford fans who are gathered around the jukebox in The Transfer Tavern this evening are discussing reports that one of their players is looking to leave the club.
The Sun is reporting that Troy Deeney is set to snub Watford’s offer of a new deal and push for the club to sell him to Premier League champions Leicester City this summer.
The title winners and the Hornets are said to have been in talks regarding the 27-year old but as yet are unable to agree a fee, mainly due to the fact that Deeney’s previous club Walsall are entitled to 25% of any fee received for the striker.
News that Deeney has decided that he wants to leave Vicarage Road will be music to Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri’s ears, who was boosted last week when Jamie Vardy agreed a new four-year deal at the King Power Stadium.
The Italian sees the forward as the perfect partner for Vardy as the club look to defend their title next season and make their debut appearance in the Champions League.
During his time in Hertfordshire, Deeney has appeared in over 260 games scoring 93 goals and proving to be a lynchpin in their return to the top tier of English football.
Should Leicester smash their transfer record for Deeney?
