Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to splash out £48.5million to land Ashley Young and David De Gea. Plus according to the Daily Mail, has already made Blackburn’s Phil Jones his first summer signing for a fee of £16.5million, that has snatched the sought after starlet from bitter rival’s Liverpool.
The Guardian have added Jones has signed a five year contract for the Champions, assuring disappointment amongst many of the top forces in England that were in the hunt for the versatile rookie.
In the next 48 hours it is also believed Fergie will gain the upper hand on his old rival once again as want-away Villa star Ashley Young is believed to making the move to Manchester.
The pacey playmaker clawed back an equalising goal for his country on the weekend, toning down the blushes emerging from the English dugout.
He has been heavily linked with a move to Anfield for a while now, but he has made it clear his preferred destination is Old Trafford and a £15million bid is being lined up to offer Young his dream move.
I can’t imagine he will be a popular figure when the two sides meet next season.
David De Gea is third on the list, and has been seen as ‘the new Van Der Sar’ as early as 2009 according to UEFA.com. The keeper has spent his career at Athletico Madrid, a product of their own youth system and it will cost United around £17million to prise his safe hands away from the Vicente Calderon stadium.
The 20 year old Spanish supreme is currently on International duty in Demark with the U’21’s, hoping to repeat his success at U’17’s level and lift the European Championship. He has insisted talks over his future will be put on hold, until his ambition with Spain at the tournament comes to an end.
He is certainly one tipped for the future, and at such a young age the £17million fee could prove to workout less than £1million a season for the treasure between the sticks, as he could potentially occupy Utd’s No.1 jersey for the next two decades.
