Jose Mourinho hasn't had the best summer so far, and unless things change over the course of the next week, it's only going to get worse. The transfer window closes in less than 7 days, and for Jose Mourinho, that means he's running out of time to get a few players in.

However, whilst bringing players in must be the priority, it also leaves him with a deadline to sell any of the players that aren't in his plans too. Of course, Man Utd are able to sell players to clubs outside of England after deadline day comes to a close, but it makes little sense to do so unless a replacement is brought in.

Thus, it seems likely that most players that are still at the club come the start of the season will remain there until January at the earliest.

It's important, then, that they move quickly to sell any relevant players, and one individual that should be facing the exit door is Phil Jones.

Jones, who was a part of England's World Cup squad over the summer, has rarely been able to make an impact in the Premier League over the last few years. On his day, he's still a solid defender, but injuries have really been a problem for him. In truth, he's probably spent nearly as much time on the shelf as he has available over the last couple of years, and at a club like Man Utd, that simply isn' t good enough.

However, even when he has been available, the Englishman has rarely been solid. Mistake-prone and lacking pace and agility, Jones has often been left on the ground with defenders rampaging past him with ease.

Jose Mourinho has some big problems in defence, and he needs to solve them. If he genuinely wants to catch Man City, he needs to build his house from the ground up, and Jones is a brick that simply isn't stable.
