It has been a very successful summer for the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern…
Some big names have moved to Man Utd, and whilst a defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday certainly disrupted expectations, there is still a lot of optimism in the pub.
With a few weeks to go until the end of the window, there are still expectations amongst supporters that the Red Devils will continue to invest, with a Premier League title challenge expected this season.
However, it appears as though Man Utd’s signings won’t end when the window shuts, with news emerging earlier this week that the Red Devils were keen to secure a deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic to return to Old Trafford sooner, rather than later.
Those hopes have now taken another upwards turn, with the Guardian reporting that Zlatan Ibrahimovic himself is keen to make the move, with the Swedish forward reportedly confirming his desires to Jose Mourinho.
Of course, Ibrahimovic has been out of action since the end of last season having suffered a knee injury whilst representing the Red Devils, though he clearly feels as though he has unfinished business at the club.
With both parties seemingly keen to secure a deal, it appears as though this move could be on. Though it remains to be seen whether it will be confirmed prior to his return to action.
A move certainly made sense for Man Utd, but it remained unclear as to whether Ibrahimovic himself would be keen on returning to the club. After all, he is not a youngster anymore, and with the physicality of the Premier League only increasing, age will certainly have an impact on his effectiveness.
Clearly, though, he has no interest in moving to a weaker league, instead choosing to compete in Europe’s most competitive division.
Given that he bagged 17 league goals last season, there was a unanimous cheer from the Man Utd fans in the Transfer Tavern when this news emerged, and our landlord thinks that Zlatan’s interest in the move could see it over the line.
