Lethal forward speaks out amid reported Chelsea interest

The Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern are quickly turning around to the idea of signing a forward this month…

On the surface, the duo of Diego Costa and Michy Batshuayi appears solid. Costa is arguably one of Europe’s best forwards, whilst Michy Batshuayi has looked good whenever he has been given a chance under Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.

However, as the season has progressed, it has become clear that Conte doesn’t trust Michy Batshuayi at present – whilst continued controversy over Diego Costa – and a recent report by the Times that Chelsea are open to selling him – has made Chelsea’s offensive issues come to the forefront of the Blues’ transfer business.

One player that has been touted with a move is Swansea City forward Fernando Llorente – with Antonio Conte reportedly keen to link up with his former forward.

However, with talk on the proposed transfer refusing to go away – Llorente himself has now come out to distance himself from the reports.

According to the Daily Star, he said: “I am very happy here [at Swansea] and I want to play and score more goals”.

Speaking about his determination to do well this season at Swansea, he continued: “I want to thank them [the fans] for their support in some difficult moments and we know we must win more matches”.

The response follows an impressive display for the Swans against Liverpool over the weekend, with the forward further establishing his lethality with another 2 goals for the Welsh side.

The news has come as a blow to the Chelsea fans in the Transfer Tavern, many of whom were in the Tavern licking their lips at the thought of Llorente bringing his deadly finishing to Stamford Bridge.
