It’s been all downhill recently at Spurs, especially with the whole Harry, will he, won’t he circus. It’s hard to say whether that’s the cause, or Spurs simply just ran out of steam. But whatever the cause Chairman Levy feels he has the solution – summer spending spree.
Spurs have been linked with a whole host of players recently, but now The Mail is reporting headway one two of the biggest of those; Loic Remy and Eden Hazard, and that Levy will make £50+ million available for the pair.
Harry admitted reigniting his interested in Marseilles hit-man Remy, after the French international reiterated his hopes to leave the French league in the summer. Spurs failed with a bid in January, but the player always claimed it was a matter of timing, saying previously ‘My future? We will speak about it at the appropriate time.’
Well that time is now, and Harry admitted, ‘Yes, we wanted to get him ……We like him a lot, he’s a very good player.’
Harry also discussed Spurs interest in one of the game’s hottest property’s, Eden Hazard. With everyone and their mums being linked to the Belgian winger, Harry knows Spurs face tough competition to seal the deal, saying ‘United are following him closely. City too. It’ll be difficult.’
But he remains confident Spurs are in a good position to steal his signature, and revealed ‘Our owner’s ready to pay for a talent like Hazard’
Still not enough for you Spurs fans? There’s more, in the shape of Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud. – ‘He looks good, I have read many good reports on him and I have a scout following the French championship,’ Redknapp added.
“If a player attracts my attention I will watch him play”, Harry said of the £15 million rated 17-goal striker.
Certainly news to those Spurs frown upside down. All the players are undoubtedly good quality, and seem to the type to fit the Spurs system well, but is it the best use of what would be almost all of the summer’s budget? Is Ligue 1 still a tough enough league to judge their record.
The Prem has been fishing Ligue 1 talent for years with unpredictable results (for every Anelka there’s a Steve Marlet). More pressingly for Spurs, do they need to finish third to attract these players to the club?
But perhaps bigger news than all this transfer talk is the very fact there is transfer talk coming from Harry, and a sign he stills sees his future with the club. Still it’s a lot easy to talk this way while England have not yet made a move. Whatever happens it looks set to be a summer of big changes at ‘White Hart Lane’.
Spurs fans what would you do with £50 million?
