The Tottenham fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see some business get going this summer. While the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United and City have all confirmed signings, last season’s runners-up are yet to seal a deal.
While bringing players in will be key for manager Mauricio Pochettino this summer, as he looks to build on two impressive – yet trophy-less – seasons, there will also be some departures.
And, to that end, chairman Daniel Levy is supposedly looking to agree quite an astonishing sale.
According to reports from The Sun, the Spurs chief is looking to sell centre-half Kevin Wimmer in order to bring in some funds to strengthen their defence.
However, Levy is looking for a £20m fee from any potential suitors for the Austrian, who arrived at White Hart Lane for a £4.3m in 2015.
Our landlord, along with most of the punters in the bar, reckons that Levy is being rather naive to think that he’ll fetch such a sum for the 24-year-old, who has made just 31 appearances for the club since his move from Cologne.
Spurs fans, we want to hear from you! Do you think anyone will stump up that sort of money for Wimmer? Should you even be selling him? Let us know…
