Levy may now have to pay more for long-term target following World Cup display

Tottenham Hotspur fans in the Transfer Tavern will be expecting the club to make a number of additions this summer as they look to compete across all competitions next season.

Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be on the lookout for a number of recruits to make his Spurs side all that more dangerous going forward and has been linked with a number of names since the window opened.

One man that he has been rumoured to have an interest in is Ante Rebic and the player has continued to go from strength-to-strength with his performances with a solid showing whilst playing for Croatia during the World Cup.

However, according to the Daily Mirror, as much as those displays will convince Tottenham to consider an offer for him, it is believed that he could be worth more than first originally thought.

Frankfurt, who had Rebic on loan from Fiorentina last season, have activated their option to sign him permanently and their sporting director has stated that he could cost more than their original £26million value.

“Of course he has gained value through the German Cup and now value through the World Cup, he is now in focus for the big clubs,” he told the Daily Mirror.

Landlord’s Verdict

Tottenham fans in the Tavern will have been impressed with the 26-year-old’s performances for Croatia throughout the group stages and would like to see him at White Hart Lane next season as he has the ability to cause defences problems.

The idea of a price going up could cause some concern, however, with Daniel Levy notorious for trying to drive a hard bargain and that could make a deal become very difficult to happen, especially if other clubs come calling for him.
