Levy ready to make shock £25m midfielder move as Tottenham transfer pursuit hits major stumbling block

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern would like to see a midfielder join the club this summer…

This is something that Mauricio Pochettino wants to see too, though according to the Daily Star, frustrations over the Lilywhites’ pursuit of Ross Barkley could lead them towards the signing of a former star instead. The Daily Star are reporting that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is willing to sanction a £25 million move for Swansea ace Gylfi Siggurdson, with a move for Ross Barkley proving difficult due to Everton’s demands.

Indeed, it would certainly be tough for Tottenham, given that they let Siggurdson move on several years ago, but such are the needs of Mauricio Pochettino’s first team. Whilst Ross Barkley may be their first choice, the Icelandic midfielder certainly wouldn’t look out of place back at Tottenham.

He has been in fine form this season, scoring 9 goals and assisting a further 13 times – in a Swansea City side that has otherwise been very poor.

Since leaving Tottenham in 2014, the Icelandic midfielder has really come on leaps and bounds, becoming the focal point of the Swansea City attack. A particularly proficient set-piece merchant, the midfielder would undoubtedly take the pressure of Dele Alli in the Tottenham first team.
