The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern are desperate for their side to hang on to Dele Alli…
It appears as though the Tottenham brass are too, with the Sun reporting that Daniel Levy has told both Man City and Barcelona – who are said to be keen – that he wouldn’t even sell the midfielder for £150 million.
It’s certainly a bold statement from the chairman, but is he right? Our landlord isn’t so sure.
After all, you have to consider what Tottenham could do with that sort of money. They’ve been hesitant to spend cash this summer, and a sale of that size would certainly give them the funds to sign nearly anyone else that they like.
Mauricio Pochettino has proven his worth as one of the best in the world at developing young talents, and so whose to say that he wouldn’t be able to unearth another Dele Alli just as easily and repeat the process?
Tottenham are in a transitional period right now. A new stadium is on the horizon that needs to be paid for, and they need to bring in a few players to increase the depth within their squad. They could quite easily sell Alli for big money, replace him for a far smaller fee and reinvest that money elsewhere.
That’s just the opinion of our landlord, though. Is he right? Let us know by voting below!
