Levy should give Pochettino transfer green light and bring rivals’ star man to Tottenham

The Tottenham fans in the Transfer Tavern were delighted with their sides progression to the knockout stages of the Champions League earlier this week.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side quickly recovered from their humbling North-London derby defeat on Saturday to claim a 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. The result was enough to put Tottenham into the hat for the last-sixteen draw with a game to spare – beating reigning champions Real Madrid to top-spot in the process. The Lilywhite’s could not have asked for a better opening to their European adventure considering they failed to progress from the group stages of the competition last season.

Tottenham’s progression will give them reason to pursue fresh addition to the squad in January to ease the burden of a congested fixture list.

According to reports at Ladbrokes, Tottenham are planning a shock swoop for West Ham’s exciting midfield star Manuel Lanzini.

Lanzini has been one of The Hammers’ brighter sparks in the Premier League since his arrival in 2015 and his performances suggest that he is capable of thriving within a top-four club.

The 24-year-old has endured a rather torrid opening to the season along with the rest of the West Ham squad who couldn’t buy a win for love nor money right now.

But sometimes a player can only be as good as the players around him, and Lanzini is a prime example of that this season.

His early-season form would suggest that a move to Tottenham should be far from Pochettino’s consideration, but he has shown enough quality and flair in previous campaigns to justify a switch to a top-four club in January.

With Alli and Eriksen likely to obtain injuries and suspensions throughout the season Tottenham will need further strength in depth in attacking-midfield, and Lanzini looks a perfect candidate to fulfil this requirement.
