There is some confusion here in the Football Transfer Tavern as it has been confirmed by Goal.com that Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski will leave in the summer. The confusion cetnres around the players next destination and just who will lure him to their club.
The striker has been on a fair few shopping lists given his form in the last couple of seasons and we have talked more than once about the possibility of him going to join Sir Alex Ferguson linking up with the current fab four forwards at Old Trafford. Whilst this is an option for the player now, the rumors in the German press – especially Bild are that the player has already agreed to join Bayern Munich in the summer.
Guardiola of course is known to be an admirer of the Polish international and such a move to Bavaria would cause uproar in Germany with the two giants often sparring against one another in the upper reaches of the Bundesliga in recent seasons. Dortmund have claimed that a contract will not be renewed between the club and the player and noted that: “Robert will not renew his contract, he is either [leaving] this summer or in the summer of 2014,”
It is now that the debate arises – will he move this summer possibly to Manchester United for a fee or in the summer of 2014 on a free probably to Bayern Munich? Do United even need him given the firepower they already possess in their ranks? Not for the money Dortmund are asking according to our fans in the tavern.
Lewandowski actually faced Bayern last night in the DFB-Pokal or German FA Cup to you and me, whereby the Bavarians won 1-0 courtesy of a beautifully curled Arjen Robben effort.
Would Lewandowski cause uproar by joining Bayern Munich? Rate this rumour below.
